why is c:\inetput\mailroot missing?
c:\inetpub is there, but not the subdirectory: 'mailroot\' I recently installed a new HP server computer with Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation pre-installed. Should \mailroot\ automatically be installed, or is this a manual step? It is needed for sending and receiving email to/from the web apps that I'm hosting on the server; web apps written in Visual Basic 2010, etc.software developer

mailroot will only appear if you install the SMTP's feature installed. I can confirm that I don't see that folder on any server that does not have that feature. check there for small step to activate it; (nb, I add that pop3 is no longer available in 2008) MCP | MCTS 70-236: Exchange Server 2007, Configuring
